Cocopeat & Growing Media

Cocopeat and growing media - the base your plants actually live in. Cocopeat is made from coconut husk, and it holds several times its own weight in water while still letting air reach the roots, which is the combination ordinary garden soil in a pot rarely achieves.

It arrives as a compressed block. Add water and it expands to many times its volume, which is why a single 1 kg block fills far more pots than its size suggests and is far cheaper to ship than loose soil. Mix it with compost and a little sand rather than using it alone, since cocopeat holds water and structure but carries almost no nutrients of its own.

Particularly useful for seedlings, cuttings and container vegetables. Pair with plant care and fertilizer for nutrients and nursery pots for propagation.
